Buying and Putting up Inground Basketball Systems

Having your own basketball system at home allows you and your family to enjoy the convenience of shooting hoops whenever you like. Instead of going out to the park just to play ball, having your own hoop at home will allow you to practice as long as you like. There are currently three types of basketball systems available that you can install in your home. An in ground system is one of the most popular hoop type as it is sturdy and it can last a lifetime. Buying and putting up inground basketball systems is a fairly challenging task but it is really not that hard.

Is an in ground system the best for you?

It is important that you know all of your options when it comes to basketball systems. Aside from an inground system, you can also choose a portable basketball system or a combination system for your home. Each of these systems, along with the inground system, has its benefits.

A portable basketball system is perfect for you if you do not have enough space for the installation of a permanent basketball system. This is also ideal if you have kids who aspire to become NBA players when they grow up. For toddlers, portable systems are also ideal. You can easily attach a mini Nerf hoop over the door of your child’s bedroom using a wall mount, allowing your kid to shoot hoops and have fun while inside his room. An electronic hoop arcade is also considered as a portable system that can be placed indoors, preferably in an entertainment area.

A combination system, on the other hand, requires a more complex form of installation, as it is the sturdiest and most permanent basketball system available. This system is very stable and uses an extension mounting kit when it is mounted on a wall. You can use this system for an indoor hoop where you can safely practice your shoots and dunks.

Making your Purchase

When buying an inground system, you need to determine the type of materials you would want for your hoop. When choosing a hoop, make sure that the backboard is made of a high quality material that does not get damaged easily. There are backboards that are made from sturdy glass as well as other high quality plastic that can be perfect for your needs.

The rims should also be durable and made from high quality steel support braces. A breakaway rim is a preferred rim type as it will protect the backboard from getting damaged as well as protect you from any dunking and net related injuries. Rims have built in wielded steel net clips that can hold the net well.

Installing inground basketball systems is fairly easy but it will take up quite a bit of your time. You will have to dig a 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep hole to insert the pole and bury it with quick drying cement. During the installation, it is important to make sure that the pole is straight using a level. You will have to wait for 24 hours to make sure that the cement is dry before you finally enjoy shooting hoops on your very own basketball system.
